Quiltmania and Simply Moderne

A super, enormous Thank You to

Quiltmania

and Simply Moderne

for including our 2016 Raffle Quilt, Lots of Dots

in both magazines!!

It's an honour to have our quilt pictured in beautiful full page photos.

The photos are part of the wonderful review of the 2016 Sydney Quilt Show. The magazines show lots of different quilts from the show. Quiltmania leans more to traditional tastes while Simply Moderne showcases the modern quilts from the show. We are so pleased that Lots of Dots suits both genres. It's just goes to show it's the sort of quilt that everyone likes.

So watch out for Quiltmania #115 and Simply Moderne #6 in newsagents or subscribe here and have them delivered to your door or straight to your iPad.

If you would like to make your own Lots of Dots quilt you can purchase the pattern at Chris Jurd's pattern store here.

Upcoming Quilt Shows

The Illawarra Quilters are holding their quilt show this weekend!!

It's going to be an action packed weekend with lots of beautiful quilts on show and traders tables. They will be running workshops over the weekend, including Material Obsession teaching 60degree shapes, My Sewing Supplies teaching fussy cutting, Berry Quilt and Co is demonstrating how to make a Boro Bag, and Kate's Quilts is demonstrating Jen Kingwell's Halo Quilt.
If you are interested email illawarraquilters@gmail.com or visit their facebook page, Illawarra Quilters facebook.

They even found a hall with a sewing related name - Ribbonwood Centre, in Dapto.
All the details are on the flyer below.

Have you heard about the Australian Modern Quilt Show that is to be held in Sydney on the weekend of November 25th and 26th?
It's shaping up to be a very special show with not just one but two overseas guests - fabric and quilt designers Anna Marie Horner and Carolyn Friedlander. Tickets are on sale now for their workshops and talks.
You'll find more information on the Modern Quilt Show blog
or their facebook page

Our raffle quilt is growing.

Chris's blocks are so fun and colourful.

What a fun choice of fabric for the leaves in this one.

Susie has a fun stack of fabrics to play with but she's still deciding which bias to use for her stems. She can't go wrong, they both look great.

And what a lovely sunny spot to sit and sew.

Rachael has made hexagons of plums and purples...

for her bunches of grapes.

So little by little, hexie by hexie and stitch by stitch our raffle quilt is growing.

We're in print!

It's worth making a trip to the newsagents to buy the current edition of Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine. Here's the sunny cover to look out for.

Why? because inside there are lots of interesting articles about quilters, inspiring quilt patterns and all the great regular features that Australian Patchwork and Quilting always include in their magazine.

And especially because there is a wonderful article about the 2016 Springwood Community Quilt Show. It's an excellent review of the show with lots of quilt photos.

There's also an article about Rachaeldaisy, who exhibits quilts every year at the Springwood Quilt Show and helps out on the committee.

So a huge Thank You to Australia Patchwork and Quilting and Jessica Harlow for her wonderful articles. It really helps our show to get the word out and let everyone know what a great show it is. Plus it's wonderful to think that those who can't make it can still get a glimpse of the beautiful quilts of our talented Blue Mountains quilters.

If you don't already you can follow Australian Patchwork and Quilting on social media at:

The next 3 blocks.

Here are the next three beautiful blocks for our 2017 raffle quilt.

First up is Lorraine's block. Her fussy cutting makes an eye catching central feature.

Tania sent a photo of her block in progress. We love her pretty flowers and rich colours.

Chris's block looks like a spring floral wreath to match the beautiful sunny weather outside.

We have Anne Sommerlad, our 2017 featured quilter, to thank for these wonderful designs. What a beautiful quilt this is going to be!
