Springwood Community Quilt Show sightings

Have you seen the latest edition of Quilter's Companion

The Springwood Quilt Show's 2016 Featured Quilter Chris Jurd made the fabulous quilt on the cover, There's a dvd that comes as part of the magazine where Chris explains techniques and tips to help you make your own version of this quilt. I can see this quilt being the new craze around the quilting world!

The edition also has a pattern by our 2017 Featured Quilter, Anne Sommerlad. Starburst  showcases Anne's clever design skills at creating quilts with wonderful secondary patterns. Wouldn't this quilt look fabulous in Christmas colours! It's still a month until Christmas so you have plenty of time to whip this up.

There is a great feature of lots of photos of quilts from the Sydney Quilt Show. Here's picture of Rachaeldaisy's Best in Show Quilt Whizz Bang! The Springwood Community Quilt Show was the first show Rachael ever entered a quilt into, and she has entered quilts every year since. We're looking forward to seeing this beautiful quilt hanging at our show in a couple of years after it has returned from it's Australian Tour.

Thanks Quilters Companion for creating such beautiful inspiring magazines!!

Moving onto some other wonderful Springwood Quilt Show community news.
Francoise Matter won first prize in Quilting and Patchwork category at the recent Penrith Show for her Mariners Compass quilt using Chris Jurd's Mariner's Madness quilt pattern.
Congratulations Francoise!!!

Here is a photo of Francoise at the 2016 Springwood Quilt Show. Francoise is one of our fabulous volunteers. She helps on the set up days, does white glove duty as you can see from her gloves, and then does the pack up as well. The Springwood Community Quilt Show couldn't happen without wonderful volunteers like her.

We were pleased as punch to see our 2013 raffle quilt Homage shown on Barbara Brackman's Material Culture blog. Barbara included it as an example of quilts made of hexagons  Have a look here. You'll be inspired by the great range of hexagon quilts and we're very honoured to have ours included.

Talking of raffle quilts. We've picked a name and a border fabric for out 2017 raffle quilt but I'll save that for the next post when we get lots of photos. Surely there was enough beautiful quilts in this post already :)
