Members of the committee recently attended a special luncheon at Bygone Beauties to hand over the cheque to the Blue Mountains Rural Fire Service for the large sum of $10,000.

Superintendent David Jones has said the money will go towards " improving communication technology to ensure we work towards meeting the needs of the community.
As part of this we want to improve our technical information flow from fire ground to Incident Control to ensure we have meaningful, accurate and timely information. This donation will go a long way towards helping us meet our needs.
The reason we wish to improve our information flow is to ensure we can provide a timely and accurate level of information to the public through the NSW RFS website and the “Fires Near Me” application on smart phones.
These two avenues of information rely on the Incident Control feeding our ICON system which in turn provides an information stream including Situation Reports and Mapping. Additionally, we can feed information through Social Media to help inform the community of current status and issues from fires.
Overall we are aiming to help improve community resilience by ensuring the community is up to date as quickly as possible. This in turn allows the community to feel informed which gives them confidence and resilience to difficult situations during a major fire event."
While we were at Bygone Beauty's we enjoyed wandering around the newly opened Treasured Teapot Museum. Large well lit cabinets display Maurice Cooper's extensive collection of teapots. It's one of the world largest collection and it's easy to believe, there are teapots everywhere!!
Even on the carpet that was specially designed for Bygone Beauty's.
The teapots of all shapes and sizes were such a treat to see.
Each year Maurice sets up a display of teapots at the Springwood Quilt Show. When we mentioned the raffle quilt for the 2016 show was Lots of Dots he immediately said "Teapots with Dots" so I think we're in for an extra fun dotty display of teapots.
If you're a Blue Mountains local I can highly recommend a visit to see the Treasured Teapot Museum at Bygone Beauty's. For those of who you only come to the mountains for the Springwood Quilt Show, it's just a 20 minute drive away so you can easily pop up to Leura and have a look.
And while we didn't have the devonshire tea I've heard it's one of the best around and I know for a fact the scones are made using an old family recipe.
